"It is a departure that has to do with internal affairs within the inner circle of the Executive and that arise when the prestige and social acceptance of the Government model is greatly reduced," said Carlos Raimundi, former Argentine ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), in Cara o Ceca. "If the result [of the national legislative elections] on the 26th is negative, the president will modify his cabinet instead of recognizing his mistakes. His ideas and direction will remain," he added. "Whoever comes now is not going to represent something different, he is going to continue with the same foreign policy guidelines as Milei," he concluded. Argentine national universities will go to court so that Milei applies the financing law. The Government finally promulgated the law that urges to reinforce university funds and contemplates a salary recomposition for its teachers, but, nevertheless, suspended its application until the Congress of the Nation determines the origin of the financing. "Suspending the application of the law is turning your back on what the Congress and democracy decided. It is also disinterest in the situation of the workers. It is very serious," said Emiliano Cagnacci, teacher and general secretary of the Teaching Association of the University of Buenos Aires (ADUBA), in Cara o Ceca.

Millions participated in "No Kings" protests in the United States. Participants in over 2,000 marches and events protested Donald Trump's policies, especially deportations of migrants, deployment of the National Guard in cities, and closure of some government agencies due to failure to pass the federal budget for the next year. Nearly a million people employed in these agencies were furloughed, about 700,000 are working without pay. The administration is also fighting the courts over the deployment of the National Guard in cities that Trump says cannot cope with crime. So far, the military has been deployed to five cities run by Democrats, and the president is threatening several more. The election campaign in New York is also in its final stretch, where polls suggest that a radical Democrat, Zohran Mamdani, could become the new mayor. Trump has already announced that if he wins, he will talk to the new mayor, but Mamdani will have to coordinate his policies with the White House. What does President Trump's war with federal institutions currently look like, how much does the constitution allow him to do? And does he have to reckon with such a strong voice of opposition as was heard this weekend? Guest: Thiago Faria, policy coordinator for the O Globo newspaper in Brasília. In December 2022, the Supreme Court ended the rapporteur's amendments. Since then, another type of parliamentary amendment has gained prominence: PIX amendments. In this type of amendment, local governments and municipalities indicated by parliamentarians receive money from Union resources directly into their accounts. According to the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU), the amount transferred to local governments and municipalities through PIX amendments grew almost 13 times between 2020 and 2024. This year, out of a total of R$50 billion in parliamentary amendments, almost R$8 billion were allocated to this modality – money that is even more difficult to track. This Thursday (23), the STF will hold a public hearing in which Congress needs to explain whether it has managed to increase the transparency and traceability of these amendments. In this episode, Natuza Nery receives journalist Thiago Faria, policy coordinator for the O Globo newspaper in Brasília. Author of a report entitled "The amendment disappeared," Thiago recounts what he discovered while investigating the fate of parliamentary amendments across the country. He explains how billions of reais are "scattered" into bank accounts of various municipalities. The journalist recounts what he heard from residents, mayors and parliamentarians about the money that should be spent on works and benefits for the population. He cites the case of the city of Zabelê, in Paraíba, a city of just over 2,000 inhabitants that received R$3 million in 2023 for the construction of a park: "today the park does not exist, and the money has disappeared," he says.
