Ilko is a historian and author who focuses on processing the SED dictatorship and the GDR past. He himself grew up in a GDR-loyal family and was a member of the Free German Youth, the FDJ. When he was 15 years old, however, he broke with the GDR and his parents' house. In 2024, his book "Freedom Shock. Another History of East Germany from 1989 to Today," which I recently read, was published. In this episode of "Mordlust – Crimes and Their Backgrounds," we take you to an inconspicuous bus stop in Lower Saxony – the place where Katrin Konert was last seen and where a mysterious message appears years later. A message that is just one of many mysterious clues that the police are still struggling with today. **Recipe for Paulina's Granola** Ingredients: 60 g Gluten-free oat flakes, 100 g Cashews (roughly chopped), 100 g Pecans (roughly chopped), 70 g Buckwheat, 100 g Almonds (roughly chopped), 100 g Coconut flakes, 60 g Chia seeds, 3 tbsp Raw cocoa powder, 50 ml Coconut oil, 50 ml Maple syrup, ½ tsp Vanilla extract Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl with coconut oil and maple syrup. Spread on the baking sheet. Roast in the oven for 30 - 40 minutes. Turn again and again in between. Let cool completely.
