From the rise of the Tubo Zanpus on the plateau to the twilight of Zhaburang, this millennial history not only shows the complex interaction between South Asian Buddhism and local beliefs, but also shows the process of incorporating the snowy plateau into the unified pattern. How did the prosperous Tubo Dynasty compete with the Tang Dynasty in all aspects? How did the plateau regime decline along with the Tang and Ming Dynasties? How was the demise of the Guge Kingdom unexpectedly recorded by Roman missionaries?
