Argentina debates a new budget after 2 years without success.

The Government's goal is to wait for the new composition of the Chambers to materialize, where its parliamentary position will be consolidated. They seek to address it in extraordinary sessions. The country has not been able to approve a new budget for two years and extends the one from 2023. "I am convinced that there should be no further extension of the national budget. It is something basic and important because it implies better controls of expenses and removes discretion," said Germana Figueroa Casas, deputy of Republican Proposal (PRO) for the province of Santa Fe, in dialogue with Cara o Ceca. "One of the issues to discuss is that the budget does not coincide with the approved laws. The Government stated that, as long as the budget is balanced, they are willing to take the changes, but it must be possible to demonstrate where the money comes from to comply with those laws," she added. "For Tuesday the 4th, there should be a ruling. The commission cannot decide, but the reality is that there are not enough signatures for it to pass," she summarized. Senator Iván Cepeda will be the candidate to succeed Gustavo Petro in Colombia.
