Camp Swamp Road Ep. 5: Jacksonville

From 🇺🇸 The Journal, published at 2025-12-23 21:00

According to a WSJ analysis, the epicenter for Stand Your Ground killings is in the state where the laws were first enacted: Florida. From 2021 through 2024, the Jacksonville area had a larger share of its homicides classified as justifiable killings by civilians than any U.S. city or county with a population greater than 500,000. WSJ’s Hannah Critchfield reports on the law’s unintended consequences and one case labelled as a self-defense killing, where no killer came forward at all. Valerie Bauerlein hosts and reveals a major update on the Scott Spivey case. Christmas at Hotel Matze 2025 Sabine Rückert, Fahri Yardim, Bosse, Filiz Tasdan

From 🇩🇪 Hotel Matze, published at 2025-12-23 17:00

Sabine is a court reporter and the voice of ZEIT Verbrechen, Filiz is a comedian and toured this year with her first solo show, Fahri is an actor and producer, and Aki Bosse is a musician who is currently on the road with new songs. I wanted to know from the four what their year was like, what changes concerned them, and why sometimes the most honest moments of the year arise around Christmas. We talk about midlife crisis, stress without vacation, hangovers, murder trials, shitstorms, children moving out, safe spaces for humor, spring energy and winter lows, global frustration and hope. It was a very special Christmas episode including a live experiment by Fahri – and I am happy to be able to end the year with so much laughter. Evangelism and politics: could a popular pastor emerge as a new 'outsider' in Argentina?

    From 🇦🇷 Cara o Ceca, published at 2025-12-23 16:59

Dante Gebel, an evangelical leader and speaker, has in recent months begun to circulate in surveys, meetings, and conversations related to electoral preparations for 2027, driven by his growing public visibility. Some Peronist figures have come out to support him. "We are in a new era of politics with Javier Milei, which is why these options are appearing. It's not common for a pastor to run, but it seems to me there's a search for a new leader in some sectors of politics," said Marcos Carbonelli, a doctor in Social Sciences and author of the book Evangelicals in Argentine Politics, on Cara o Ceca. "The evangelical Christian movement is growing in Latin America at the expense of Christianity; its discourse is based on experience and emotionality. It better resonates with the times," he added. "Milei has an anti-caste discourse, anger, and rejection of the other. In contrast, Gebel leans more towards serenity and consensus, but it remains to be seen what he can propose economically or in terms of security," he concluded. Bolivian Miners Led Protests Against End of Fuel Subsidies A massive march paralyzed downtown La Paz at the start of the strike called by the Bolivian Workers' Central. According to Andrés Paye, a mining leader, the government “approves norms to favor businessmen and punish the poor”. "It's 3.5 billion dollars a year, that's what the State loses by buying gasoline abroad. It's a shock measure; some acknowledge that it was necessary to remove that subsidy because it was a drain on the state, but they asked for it to be gradual," said Sebastián Ochoa, Sputnik correspondent in Bolivia, on Cara o Ceca.

From 🇺🇸 Think Fast Talk Smart: Communication Techniques, published at 2025-12-23 14:00

Why good communication requires presence, not performance.Effective communication isn't about perfecting your performance. According to Dr. Kate Mason, it's about being powerfully present.Mason is a world champion debater, executive communication coach, and author of the book Powerfully Likeable. In her work coaching senior executives to communicate more effectively, she emphasizes that it’s not about creating a performative persona, it’s about uncovering the authentic communicator you already are. “The coaching is just bringing the real parts of you to the fore,” she says, “uncovering rather than totally building from scratch. A lot of people come to me and say, I need to be more warm or more insert adjective here. And I say, I'm not gonna help you be more warm if that's not what's coming naturally to you. I am gonna help you work out the thing you're already doing, the thing you're already saying, how to make that comfortable for people around you.”In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Mason and host Matt Abrahams discuss strategies for more present communication. From avoiding "imposing syndrome” to reducing “the delta between your real self and that corporate persona,” Mason's insights explore how we can bring more of our true selves to the table. To listen to the extended Deep Thinks version of this episode, please visit FasterSmarter.io/premium.Episode Reference Links:Dr. Kate MasonKate’s Book: Powerfully LikeableEp. 210 First Impression to Lasting Impact: Use Status Strategically Connect:Premium Signup >>>> Think Fast Talk Smart PremiumEmail Questions & Feedback >>> [email protected] Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00) - Introduction (02:49) - Why Confidence Is the Wrong Goal (04:12) - Bridging Your Real and Work Selves (05:44) - What Is Imposing Syndrome? Big Ideas 2026: The Enterprise Orchestration Layer

    From 🇺🇸 a16z Podcast, published at 2025-12-23 11:00

AI is becoming the orchestration layer inside the enterprise. In this episode of Big Ideas 2026, we explore the shift from isolated AI copilots to coordinated multi-agent systems that plan, analyze, and execute work across teams and tools. This is not a new feature, but a new way workflows run inside large organizations. You will hear from Seema Amble on context extraction and coordinated agent teams, Angela Strange on why unified data and parallel workflows accelerate core replacement, Alex Immerman on multiplayer AI and execution boundaries, and David Haber on what makes these systems commercially defensible. Together, these perspectives define the enterprise orchestration layer: not a chatbot and not a standalone tool, but a coordinated system of agents that runs the workflow and delivers real outcomes across the business.

Ric walks us through the early struggles that have led to what is now a flourishing investing platform, but mostly this episode is a masterclass on cultural values and philosophies that transcend mere financial gain. We discuss the difference between living good and well, the power of forgiveness, and compounding more than just your capital. Ric’s story is one of resilience, humility, and grace. His story about being in the front row of the plane that Captain Sully landed in the Hudson is singular and very moving. Please enjoy my conversation with Ric Elias. Prosecute the participants of the massacre

From 🇮🇱 אחד ביום (Echad Ba'Yom), published at 2025-12-23 05:16

Not long after the October 7 massacre, the police began collecting evidence against its perpetrators - the thousands who crossed the fence that day, were captured, and have been imprisoned in Israel ever since. Mountains of evidence accumulated against them, but no one had any idea how, or who, would handle it. This time we are with Adv. Yuval Kaplinsky from Dr. Gideon Fisher & Co. Law Firm, formerly head of the International Department in the State Attorney's Office - discussing the first draft bill on the matter and whether it will shorten the process - or simply create a host of new problems.
