The fire is advancing out of control in southern Argentina: "The situation is extremely serious"

    From 🇦🇷 Cara o Ceca, published at 2026-01-09 18:20

Extreme weather conditions, with a historic drought, high temperatures and wind, hinder the fight against the flames advancing towards populated areas of Chubut province. There are already more than 3,000 evacuees, and thousands of hectares burned. "The situation is extremely serious, with more than 4,000 areas affected. During the early hours of the morning, the situation became more uncontrollable: there is no rain, we have a lot of wind, and all of that causes the fire to spread," said environmental journalist Agustina Grosso on Cara o Ceca. "The governor of Chubut [Ignacio Torres] confirmed that these fires are intentional," she stated. "Since last year, there have been mobilizations by environmental organizations, concerned about the removal of the anti-fire fund. Since Javier Milei took office, the budget has been shrinking, and the government's expectation is that fewer and fewer resources will be executed," she concluded. The Council of the European Union approved the agreement with Mercosur after 25 years of negotiations The 27 member states of the European Union reached a qualified majority. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will be able to fly to Paraguay and initial the signing on Monday the 12th. However, the agreement will not immediately enter into force, as the European side also needs the approval of the European Parliament, which must issue a pronouncement within several weeks. "For Mercosur's industrial sectors, this agreement is a very big challenge due to competitiveness. In South America, there is already a lot of competition from imported products from China. But it is a long-term possibility to minimize the impact of the fragmentation of world trade," said Robson Carloch Valdez, a doctor in International Strategic Studies, on Cara o Ceca. On the other hand, Adrian Zelaia, a Spanish political analyst and director of the EKAI GROUP consultancy, affirmed that the European economic situation is in a process of decline. "The problem is mainly in the primary sector. For this reason, the EU is looking in different directions to obtain complementary resources and overcome the crisis."

Văn Mai Hương: I just need to be myself to be worthy of love - Have A Sip #243

    From 🇻🇳 Have A Sip, published at 2026-01-09 13:00

Debuting very early and growing up with many generations of audiences, Van Mai Huong is one of the V-pop female singers who has left her mark through every stage of transformation. Throughout over a decade in the industry, each comeback of Van Mai Huong has brought a new color along with chart-topping "blockbuster" hits. From Hương, Minh Tinh to her 5th studio album titled Giai Nhan, her music reflects her journey of growth. In the latest episode of Have A Sip, Van Mai Huong had the opportunity to share about the journey of making the album Giai Nhan, built from a "formula for success," set in the context of a woman with enough experience and calm to tell her story in her own way. For Van Mai Huong, Giai Nhan is like a musical memoir, but also a journey through wounds and ambiguous areas of love to return to the most fundamental thing: self-worth. No need to become a better version in anyone else's eyes, no need to strain to be recognized, just being oneself is enough to be loved.#HaveASip #Vietcetera #Vietcetera_Podcast #HAS243—Thank you to Mille Mille Flagship Store (28 Tran Quoc Thao, HCMC) for accompanying Vietcetera in this podcast episode.—Don't forget you can watch the video version of this podcast at: YouTubeAnd read interesting articles on the website: Vietcetera—If you like this podcast episode, you can donate at:● Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/vietcetera● Buy me a coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/vietceteraIf you have any suggestions, feedback, or collaboration requests, you can send an email to [email protected]

The boom of Latin culture in the world

    From 🇧🇷 O Assunto, published at 2026-01-09 03:17

Guests: Carol Prado, g1 reporter; and Isabela Boscov, journalist and film critic. In 2026, Latin American culture is expected to further expand its space in global entertainment. The forecast comes from the British magazine "The Economist," which points to Latin America as one of the main drivers of the cultural industry this year. This, after Latin music and cinema gained prominence in global showbiz in 2025. Artists like Bad Bunny and Karol G lead global rankings, and cultural sector companies announce billions in investments in the region. All driven by a numerous, young, and highly connected audience, which has transformed local productions into international phenomena. Meanwhile, Brazilian cinema is experiencing a moment of greater visibility outside the country. 'The Secret Agent' and four other Brazilian films are on the Oscar 2026 shortlist. Kleber Mendonça Filho's film also holds records at the Golden Globes: it received 3 nominations, in the categories Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language, and Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, with Wagner Moura. In this episode, Natuza Nery welcomes g1 reporter Carol Prado to explain how Latin music ceased to be niche and became a global protagonist. Carol details the numbers of this market and how the movement has a political dimension. Afterwards, Natuza speaks with film critic Isabela Boscov. She is the one who analyzes the current state of Brazilian and Latin American cinema and discusses the importance of permanent incentive policies.
