Report on the State of the World - January 10, 2026From 🇵🇱 Raport o stanie świata Dariusza Rosiaka, published at 2026-01-10 08:00
US Vice President J.D. Vance said that Greenland is of "critical" importance to the United States and the world in the event of an attack by Russia or China, and criticized Europe for failing to protect this territory. A White House spokeswoman confirmed that President Trump does not rule out the use of military force to take over Greenland. Leaders of six European countries, including Poland, declared that only Denmark and Greenland have the right to regulate relations between themselves. How far will President Trump go to take over Greenland? How does Trump's rhetoric affect America's European allies? Does it pose a threat to NATO's cohesion? President Zelensky has made changes to key positions in ministries related to national security. Who is the new Head of the President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov, and why did he replace Andriy Yermak? After the American operation in Venezuela, the persecution of the regime's opponents continues unabated. Imprisonment is threatened for political statements. What is daily life like in Caracas? Did last weekend's American action change anything in the lives of its inhabitants? In Aleppo, Syrian government troops are fighting the Kurds who control part of the city. Why have Kurdish troops, who control one third of Syria, not integrated with the government army, and what significance does this have for the future of Syria? The Lego company is introducing new technological solutions to its brick models, which have been accompanying children worldwide in their traditional form for almost 50 years. The end of fun play or the beginning of something new? And also: about the helplessness and effectiveness of international organizations. Basket of Horror Stories Vol. 26From 🇲🇽 Relatos de la Noche, published at 2026-01-10 03:05
In this basket of horror stories, we gather strange, unsettling, and profoundly distinct tales. Experiences that happen in houses, forests, apartments, hotels, and places that seemed safe... until they weren't. These are stories told from the intimacy of the early morning, when silence weighs heaviest, when something seems to observe us from where it shouldn't, and when a presence, real or not, completely changes the way we look at our surroundings again. Here you will find encounters with the inexplicable, figures that manifest in unexpected ways, noises that shouldn't be heard, and moments when reality breaks just enough to plant a doubt that never leaves. We invite you to listen calmly, to let yourself go, and to join us, especially those who listen at night, returning home or trying to sleep. Turn off the light, get comfortable... and enter with us into this basket of Night Tales. — 📖 You can now get our book in physical and digital bookstores. The fire is advancing out of control in southern Argentina: "The situation is extremely serious"From 🇦🇷 Cara o Ceca, published at 2026-01-09 18:20
Extreme weather conditions, with a historic drought, high temperatures and wind, hinder the fight against the flames advancing towards populated areas of Chubut province. There are already more than 3,000 evacuees, and thousands of hectares burned. "The situation is extremely serious, with more than 4,000 areas affected. During the early hours of the morning, the situation became more uncontrollable: there is no rain, we have a lot of wind, and all of that causes the fire to spread," said environmental journalist Agustina Grosso on Cara o Ceca. "The governor of Chubut [Ignacio Torres] confirmed that these fires are intentional," she stated. "Since last year, there have been mobilizations by environmental organizations, concerned about the removal of the anti-fire fund. Since Javier Milei took office, the budget has been shrinking, and the government's expectation is that fewer and fewer resources will be executed," she concluded. The Council of the European Union approved the agreement with Mercosur after 25 years of negotiations The 27 member states of the European Union reached a qualified majority. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will be able to fly to Paraguay and initial the signing on Monday the 12th. However, the agreement will not immediately enter into force, as the European side also needs the approval of the European Parliament, which must issue a pronouncement within several weeks. "For Mercosur's industrial sectors, this agreement is a very big challenge due to competitiveness. In South America, there is already a lot of competition from imported products from China. But it is a long-term possibility to minimize the impact of the fragmentation of world trade," said Robson Carloch Valdez, a doctor in International Strategic Studies, on Cara o Ceca. On the other hand, Adrian Zelaia, a Spanish political analyst and director of the EKAI GROUP consultancy, affirmed that the European economic situation is in a process of decline. "The problem is mainly in the primary sector. For this reason, the EU is looking in different directions to obtain complementary resources and overcome the crisis."
