Gaza ceasefire implementation begins between Israel and Hamas. Per the agreement, accepted Thursday evening by Benjamin Netanyahu's government, a ceasefire was to take effect within 24 hours, followed by Hamas releasing Israeli hostages by Monday at the latest. The Israeli army began withdrawing to agreed positions, giving it control of just over half of the Gaza Strip. The humanitarian blockade has been formally lifted – trucks with aid can enter the devastated and famine-stricken territory. Negotiations on ending the war in the Gaza Strip have been taking place in Sharm el-Sheikh since Monday. So far, more is known about the discrepancies between Israel and Hamas than about their progress. It is unclear whether the disarmament of this organization means handing over all the weapons its members have. It is not known what mandate international stabilization forces would receive, or when Israeli hostages will return home. Yesterday, Israelis commemorated the approximately 1,200 people who died on October 7, 2023, during the Hamas attack. Private ceremonies were held in the kibbutzim that were attacked, and at the Nova festival site at 6:29 a.m. – when the attack began – a minute of silence was observed in memory of the dead. The Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth fascinates and outrages. Sienkiewicz used this unique moment in our history as a canvas for a story bringing consolation to the hearts of compatriots living under partitions. Tonight, Russian drones violated Polish airspace. According to Prime Minister Tusk, there were at least 19 drone intrusions into Polish territory. The interference occurred during Russia's attack on Ukraine, although – as the Prime Minister confirmed – a large part of the drones flew in from Belarus. According to authorities, the drones were shot down, and their wreckage fell on areas of eastern Poland. There are no casualties, and the extent of the damage is still being assessed. This was the first instance of NATO units participating in the elimination of a Russian threat on Alliance territory. A NATO source told Reuters that the incident was a deliberate intrusion of Russian drones into NATO territory. The Polish government has initiated consultations with partners under Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told the European Parliament that we had witnessed a reckless and deliberate violation of Polish and European airspace. Skandalista, prophet, or iconographer of contemporary France? Who is Michel Houellebecq – the protagonist of the latest installment of the FICTION / NON-FICTION report series? My distinguished guest, at whose request we will discuss the novel "Serotonin", calls Houellebecq the creator and sole representative of "caustic realism". The novels of this French writer throw you out of your comfort zone, sometimes they hurt, sometimes they are unbearable. The question is – why does Houellebecq provoke us so much? By drawing the reader into a world of spiritual and emotional emptiness, moral ugliness and self-destruction, is he trying to warn him about something? Is "Serotonin" a description of the coming twilight of Western society in the 21st century? Diagnosis of the collapse of French society? Or a desperate ode to love? And if so, is Houellebecq, famous for his exceptional obscenity bordering on pornography, really a new romantic? Or is it just another empty label, because the greatness of this French novelist lies, among other things, in the fact that he cannot be pigeonholed?
