Starting February this year, Teacher Li launched 611Study.ICU and NiuMa.ICU projects through X account "Teacher Li Isn't Teacher Li", the former focusing on "excessive studying" of primary and secondary school students, the latter focusing on "excessive working" of laborers. By early May, these two projects received over 9,000 submissions, including student submissions from over 4,000 schools, and the most direct protests and outcries from workers about involution. Why launch these two projects? Which submissions impressed Teacher Li, and what reality do they reflect? What does Teacher Li, who has been questioned after releasing Li coins, want to say? Is it still possible for us to influence China from overseas? In this conversation, Teacher Li answered questions about the projects themselves, the reality of involution in China, Li coins, and views on action. After the White Paper Movement, Teacher Li's life underwent earth-shaking changes. He believes he is just a blogger, but the reality is that he is regarded as an "opposition" and encounters transnational repression. In the past two years, he has had more thoughts on action. He regards these two projects as an attempt, "no longer just passively accepting and presenting submissions, but I can also actively set the agenda and let the CCP respond." May 10th marks the fourth anniversary of the arrest of Ruan Xiaohuan, also known as Programming Thoughts. In this episode, we re-broadcast the conversation with Ruan Xiaohuan's wife, Ms. Bei, from two years ago. This episode was recorded in May 2023, shortly after Ruan Xiaohuan's first trial, where he was sentenced to 7 years in prison for "inciting subversion of state power." Since the second trial verdict in December last year, he has not been transferred from the detention center to a prison, which generally has better conditions. The family is fighting for rights such as communication.
